How a Couple’s Leap of Faith Transformed a Sickly Kitten into a Stunning Cat

Every now and then, life surprises us with the most amazing gifts – like the arrival of Garfield the Puffy, a fluffy orange cat who won the hearts of his forever humans when they least expected it. It’s a good thing fate intervened when it did because he was not likely to survive much longer if left on his own. Despite his rough start, Garfield learned to trust humans and soon realized that being a pampered house cat was the life he deserved.

How did Garfield become a part of your family? Well, it was not a planned decision, but we couldn’t resist rescuing the little fella. Our encounter with Garfield occurred during our visit to Bran in the summer of 2021. On a morning stroll, we noticed a dirty, tick and flea-infested kitten staring at us with big, sad eyes. We instantly fell in love with him. However, Garfield was initially quite wild and wouldn’t let us get close to him. But fate had other plans. One morning, he showed up injured, meowing in pain and fear. A dog had bitten his tail. It took us two days to catch him and take him to the vet, who informed us that he was about one year old, had mange and parasites. The vet advised us to keep him and not let him roam the streets if we wanted to save him. That’s when we decided to bring him back to Bucharest with us. Now Garfield is a happy cat with a loving family.

How did Garfield get his name? Nothing fancy, really. We named him after the famous orange tabby cat created by Jim Davis. It just felt right.

What is his personality like? Garfield has come a long way from being a timid, scared kitten. He is now an affectionate and playful cat who loves human company. He is always curious and loves exploring every nook and cranny of the house. He is also a bit of a foodie and can be very vocal when he wants to be fed.

What are his favorite hobbies? Garfield loves napping, especially in sunny spots around the house. He also enjoys playing with toys, chasing laser pointers and watching birds from the window.

Does he have any cat or dog housemates at home? No, Garfield is the only pet in the house. But he doesn’t seem to mind. He gets all the attention and love he needs from us.

What’s something special you’d like people to know about Garfield? We want people to know that Garfield is not just a cat, but a member of our family. He has brought so much joy and love into our lives, and we are grateful for every moment we spend with him.

What inspired his name?
Upon our initial encounter with him, we couldn’t help but notice his plump, orange appearance (although later we learned he was bloated due to parasites). It immediately reminded us of the beloved cartoon cat Garfield, and thus, we christened him with that moniker.

Can you describe his character?
Ever since he came to our abode, he has always been a loving creature. He’s affectionate, composed, and warm-hearted, and he savors being cuddled in my arms while dozing off. However, he tends to hide when we have visitors around because of the past abuse he endured from humans. It’s already been a year since we took him in, but his fear still lingers.

What activities does he enjoy doing?
One of his preferred activities is gazing out the window and observing the chirping birds. Additionally, he takes delight in playing with his treasured toys – balls and mice.

Are there any other furry friends living with him at home?
There are no other pets residing in our house, so Garfield is the head honcho.
